R.I.T.E of Passage: Youth Engagement & Justice Support

Reimagine. Identity. Transition. Evolve

The R.I.T.E of Passage is a culturally grounded reintegration and support program for Pasifika (Polynesian, Melanesian, Micronesian) males aged 15 to 25 who have had contact with the justice system.

It provides intensive, one-on-one support for young people transitioning from custody back into the community, with a focus on long-term healing, connection, and intergenerational change.

Pasifika and Māori communities are significantly overrepresented in Australia’s youth justice system. Many young men leaving custody face complex barriers to rebuilding their lives — including unstable housing, family disconnection, unemployment, and limited access to culturally safe services.

Without early, intensive support, these young people often fall through the cracks and become further entrenched in the justice system.

The R.I.T.E of Passage responds to this by offering wraparound support grounded in cultural identity, belonging, and strength. The program addresses both individual and family needs, recognising that sustainable change comes from restoring relationships and strengthening cultural foundations. It supports young men to navigate the challenges of re-entry while building pride in who they are and where they come from.

Delivered through a culturally safe, strengths-based approach, the program provides intensive case management tailored to each participant.

Our team works closely with young people to help them access housing, employment, education, health services, and cultural connections — always guided by community values and lived experiences.

We are proud to deliver this work in partnership with the Australian Communities Foundation and the Paul Ramsay Foundation. Their generous support allows us to walk alongside young Pasifika and Māori men, helping them move forward with confidence and purpose.
